HEALTH AND PHYSICAL FITNESS
2 Credits Physical Education or Electives

During this assignment you will use information and assessment tools found at sites on the Internet to make an estimate of your physical fitness and to develop a plan for improving your diet and exercise.

The goal of this assignment is for you to develop a strategy for improving your health and fitness.

Weight Lifting

The assignment is to be done in the following stages:
1) Explore Internet web sites for information concerning diet and fitness.
Places to start:
Fitness and Health online magizine
MetLife Insurance 'Life Advice'

2) Take the Fitness and Health Self-analysis exercise fitness tests

3) Select three interesting sports or activities to research from the Sports and Activity list

4) Look for the following information on each sport and exercise:


5) Write a paragraph describing how you could arrange to involve yourself in each activity.

6) Return to the home page, click on the 'Phys Calculators'  and calculate your general, nutrition and fitness needs and statistics.

7) Return to the home page  and click on 'How your favorite snacks stack up' under 'Nutrition'.

8) Go to 'Fit or Fat' and do the analysis activity to find out how 'fit or fat' you are.

9) Research the different snack foods and come up with a list of four or six snacks you like which are relatively healthy.  Compare what you find out about your usual snacks to the healthier ones.  If you already eat healthy snacks, choose some of the less healthy ones to compare.

10) Put the information you have gathered into an 'I' search format.
